The HPA Outdoor Program is partnering with the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) to offer a ten day Wilderness First Responder (WFR) course at HPA. Wilderness First Responder Certification is the industry standard for professional guides, trip leaders, search and rescue team members, outdoor recreationists, and international travelers. Curriculum covers Wilderness Medicine, Leadership, and Risk Management. Upon completion, participants will be able to conduct a thorough physical exam, obtain a patient history, assess vital signs, provide emergency care in the wilderness, and make crucial evacuation decisions. The course is taught half through lecture and half through practical outdoor scenarios. This is an ideal course for folks who work or play in the backcountry as well as for students looking towards employment in the outdoor industry.
Certification cost is $885 for the general public , and $785 for HPA students and employees. This is a course open to the public age 16+. This certification is offered in partnership with the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS).
