Join the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary volunteers and Pu‘ukoholā Heiau National Historic Site Park Staff every Friday from 9:00am to noon to help look for humpback whales and answer any questions you might have about our amazing yearly visitors to the Big Island.

Sit, relax and enjoy a HIHWNMS presentation on humpback whales, their biology and life cycle,most recent population estimates and research updates and other interesting information on their amazing 3000 mile journey to Hawaii to breed, calve and nurse their young.

From the waters of Alaska, Hawaii and the remote islands of Tonga, scientists research how these giant mammals communicate, sing, feed, play and take care of their young while migrating 10,000 miles every year.
The message of this film is that humpback whales should be protected, respected and asks what can we do to help them survive. Come have fun while learning about humpback whales…
