Exhibit: The Woodworker’s Journey: Concept to Creation
January 7 – February 23, 2020; Schaefer International Gallery
Open Tuesday-Sunday, 10am - 5 pm CLOSED MONDAYS
(Also open before Castle Theater shows and during intermission)

We have invited an exceptional group of 25 artists from Hawai‘i and the mainland U.S. with distinguished careers in woodworking to each make one new piece for this exhibition. The work may be utilitarian or conceptual in design, with a refined conventional appeal or freeform fusion approach, using wood as the primary material.

The select group of woodworking artists from across the U.S. includes Roger Asay & Rebecca Davis (AZ), Joel Bright (HI), Andy Buck (NY), Robert Butts (HI), Miriam Carpenter (PA), Marcus Castaing (HI), Michael Cullen (CA), Shaun Fleming (HI), Mats Fogelvik (HI), Hank Gilpin (RI), Katie Hudnall (IN), Yuri Kobayashi (ME), Tai Lake (HI), Kristin LeVier (ID), Ted Lott (MI), Wendy Maruyama (CA), Peter Naramore (HI), Craig Nutt (TN), Dean Pulver (NM), Paul Schurch (CA), Michael Patrick Smith (HI), Koji Tanaka (CA), Ricardo Vasquez (HI), and Alan Wilkinson (HI).

The Woodworker’s Journey: Concept to Creation is presented by Maui Arts & Cultural Center, and sponsored in part by the Hawai‘i Tourism Authority through the Community Enrichment Program, and County of Maui - Office of Economic Development. The MACC is a 501(C)3 nonprofit performing & visual arts facility inspiring people through personal and shared experiences of the arts.
