From October 20th -26th, 2019, Maui Ocean Center will host the inaugural Wai.Kai Week, a celebration of wai (freshwater) and kai (saltwater) and where the two realms meet. Enjoy a week of inspiring events highlighting Hawaiian culture and environmental stewardship that includes free daytime Aquarium admission for Hawai‘i children, environmental organization booths, a new Kauhulu evening cultural talk, and a Wai.Kai Benefit evening event on October 26th, 2019.

Wai.Kai Week begins on Sunday, October 20th with a beach to reef cleanup at Keālia Pond from 7:30am-10:00am. The cleanup will be hosted by Maui Ocean Center Marine Institute in partnership with Maui Ocean Center and Maui Nui Botanical Gardens.

From October 20th-26th, Maui Ocean Center will offer free daytime Aquarium and Sphere admission for kama‘āina (Hawai‘i resident) children ages 4-12 accompanied by a paid kama‘āina adult. Offer is valid at the Front Gate only and an adult must present a valid Hawai‘i ID. During the week, guest environmental organizations will be present during park hours to showcase their efforts, how to mālama (care for) natural resources, and provide tools and opportunities to get involved with environmental conservation.
