“Species in the Spotlight: Survive to Thrive” and the annual Monk Seal Count

The Hawaiian monk seal is one of NOAA Fisheries’ Eight Species in the Spotlight. This initiative is a concerted, agency-wide effort to spotlight and save the most highly at-risk marine species. Learn about the endangered Hawaiian monk seal and also how you can participate in the upcoming Annual Statewide Monk Seal Count event. During this presentation you will learn about how you can help this endangered species and find out everything you’ll need to know for the 2nd Annual Main Hawaiian Islands Monk Seal Count taking place on Saturday, October 19, 2019, 9am – 12pm. The Seal Count is open to everyone of all ages – no experience needed – and at the end of the talk you’ll be able to choose your zone for the Count and be ready to go for October 19th. This talk is also geared for non-participants as the focus will be on general monk seal information and conservation efforts.
