GRANDcares is a free program for grandparents raising grandkids. It includes free classes for both grandparents and kids. The 7 week program for kids ages 8-12 years old is based on 4-H activities and designed to help them build self-confidence and leadership skills with fun activities. The classes for grandparents discuss the topics of stress management, dealing with difficult emotions, and connecting to local resources. For kids under 8 years old there are supervised activities available. The program starts on Sept. 21 through November 3 on Saturdays from 9:30 am- 12:00 pm at UHMCC in Kahului. There is no cost to join and the program includes free breakfast and also provides a bagged lunch.
