The Waimea Elementary School will help paint the town pink at this year’s 26th annual Waimea Cherry Blossom Heritage Festival by hosting an Arts and Crafts Fair in the Thelma Parker Recreation Center Gym on Saturday, February 2 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
According to the event’s coordinator, special education teacher Pamela Walton, the school’s Aloha Club began hosting the popular gymnasium fair four years ago “in order create a new showcase for the talented folks at our school and in our community.”
Offering a casual and relaxed setting for festival-goers, this year’s event will also feature live classic Hawaiian music by Waimea’s-own Gaynor Kalima along with a diverse selection of art, craft, health and snack items including:
Decorative ceramic tiles, hand-painted cards and canvas renditions by award-winning Kona Coffee folk artist Bobbi Caputo. Wearable art and paintings by VV Originals and Big Island image-printed items by Photography by Pamela.
Wooden signs, vinyl decals, stickers and t-shirts by Sign Time and Local Kine Hawaii, wellness products by Hawaii Wellness Warriors, and DoTerra Essential Oils, plants and honey by Maolifood and lotions, soap and bath salts by Perfectly Posh.
Color Street nail polish by Dahlia Designs. Crocheted items by Katera Creations and quilted items by RK Creations. Purses, totes and thermals by Thirty One Gifts and household cleaning items by Norwex Mop Systems.
Coffee and teas by Healthy Habits Hawaii and shortbread cookies, Tupperware, and Lila Rose Hair Clips by Tavares Tasty Treats with Macaroons and baked goods by Ono Sweets.
Proceeds from this year's event will benefit a catered Mahalo Luncheon for the school’s teachers and staff members at the end of the school year.
The Thelma Parker Gym is located on the Waimea Elementary School campus across from the Waimea Shell Station at the Mamalahoa Highway and Hawaii Belt Road Intersection. Admission and parking is free to the public. For more information contact Pamela Walton at [email protected].
