KĀNAKA

KĀNAKA is a digital release launching on October 30th. This track was inspired by the ongoing oppression the indigenous communities face on the Hawaiian Islands. There is a number of violations the Hawaiian Kingdom has undergone, including continuous illegal military occupation and the genocide of Kānaka Maoli’s across the islands. These lyrics aim to encourage everyone to pay their respects to Hawaiians and Hawaiian Culture. “Aloha ‘Āina”, “pule", and “oli” are some of the key words, emphasizing a cultural richness that is very much alive today.
The solo artist on the track is Chu, a RasTafari, a first-generation born in America, an ally to all indigenous communities across the globe. Although a small fraction of his bloodline is Polynesian, Chu’s parents hail from the villages of Guyana, an unspoken of third-world country along the outskirts of the Amazon.
Rloveution Records proudly endorses Chu in the raising of the global consciousness through impactful music. We implore you to give the song a listen, and surely you’ll be moved to engage in the spiritual war on humanity at large.
Some of our favorite lyrics from this track read, “This is for mi aunty and mi unko, who can’t afford enough income. This is for mi niece in mi nephew, who study abroad and leave home. This is Hawaiian Kingdom…and then some”.

Blessings and Aloha nui loa!
