Come to Lincoln Park to celebrate the painting of a new mural, entitled,
Ka mana ʻana o ka Wahine, Empowerment of Woman. Volunteer artists will render the work Sunday, October 13th. Bring something for the potluck and wear your paint clothes to participate in this free community event.

Dr. Jill Dawrs Family Chiropractic Clinic of Hilo, Hawai’i has announced the purchase of the medical building located at 198 Ponahawai St. in Hilo. The property is adjacent to Lincoln Park also known as The Ruth E. Oda playground and includes a large wall, which oversees the park. Dr. Jill Dawrs has commissioned artist Karen Renee to create a mural on the wall, which will depict a canoe paddler in Hilo Bay. They will be seeking local talent to render the mural during the month of October. Artists of all ages will be invited to participate in the community mural project, entitled, Empowerment of Woman, or Ka mana ʻana o ka Wahine.

Sponsors have contributed through a crowd funding campaign established by the artist, who’s work can be seen at Disney’s California Adventure Park and in various films and television.

Dr. Jill Dawrs, who collaborated in the design of the mural has been practicing chiropractor in Hilo for the past 28 years. “The purpose of this mural is to beautify Lincoln Park and to help make it a fun, safe place for families and children to play.” Said Dr. Dawrs regarding the project, who plans to move her practice to the building on December 2nd, 2019. She continued, ”We also want to honor Dr. Ruth Oda who used to have her pediatric practice in the adjacent building.”.

Volunteers who are interested in the project may contact Dr. Dawrs at (808)935-0004. Anyone interested in sponsoring the project can do so through the Facebook Fundraiser at https://www.facebook.com/donate/444175252862726/444198959527022/
