A Maunakea Speaker Series presentation by Dr. James Juvik, Professor Emeritus of Geography and Environmental Studies, University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo. In 1958 a botanical survey by noted Pacific Island botanist Raymond Fosberg recorded the various native plants growing along the Maunaloa access road. Dr. Juvik and his team resurveyed the Maunaloa plants again after 50 years (2008) and 60 years (2018). He will present fascinating study findings including changing patterns of alpine native and alien plants on Maunakea.
